Body found in Jamaica Pond

PONDSIDE—A person found dead in Jamaica Pond on Aug. 31 apparently was the victim of an accidental or self-inflicted drowning, according to the Boston Police Department (BPD).

Detectives are investigating the death as a “non-homicide,” according to BPD.

The body was found around 8 a.m. The female victim was pronounced dead at the scene, according to BPD. Her age and identity were not released.

Swimming is banned in the pond, which has been the scene of many drownings over the years.
