Council suit gets court date

The Jamaica Plain Neighborhood Council’s (JPNC) lawsuit against the Home for Little Wanderers project will have its first day in court on April 10, according to council member and attorney Jeffrey Wiesner.

A judge will hear arguments on the defendants’ motion to dismiss the case. The defendants—the City of Boston and the developer Boston Residential Group—allege that the JPNC has no standing, or ability to sue, because it is not a government body. The JPNC alleges that it is a government body.

Meanwhile, plaintiffs in a lawsuit against the Charlestown Neighborhood Council are still seeking to merge their suit with the JPNC’s. Kevin Joyce, an attorney for the Charlestown plaintiffs, said he expects to file a motion to merge the suits in court next week.
