S. HUNTINGTON—A city developer, who was previously involved in another Jamaica Plain construction project, is setting his sights on the former Goddard House nursing home.
“I’m looking into it,” Dorchester-based developer Tom Donnelly said about purchasing the Goddard House, which went on the market March 4.
Donnelly was part of a team involved with the construction of the EnVision Hotel at 81 S. Huntington Ave that opened last year. He said the same team would be involved with the Goddard House. Donnelly had previously told the Gazette he would be interested in turning the Goddard House into either an assisted-facility or another hotel.
The Goddard House, which is located at 201 S. Huntington Ave., was a nursing home that ceased operations on Sept. 8. The enormous brick building was constructed in 1927 and housed about 100 seniors.
Donnelly did not want to say much about the possible purchase, but said, “It’s a good project.” He said the exterior of the building is “great” and the site has plenty of parking. Donnelly said the interior is where much of the renovation would take place.
Lisa Campoli of Colliers International, which is handling the sale, said no bids have been made on the property. She said none are expected until later in the sale period.
