Candidates apply for mayoral election papers

Fourteen candidates had applied for nomination papers in the race to replace Mayor Thomas Menino at the Gazette deadline, though others have announced their intention to also enter the scrum.

Some of those who have announced include state Rep. Martin Walsh, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel Conley and City Councilors John Connolly, Rob Consalvo and Felix Arroyo, a Jamaica Plain resident.

The first day candidates could apply for the papers at City Hall was April 17, and as of April 22, the following had: Lee Buckley, Charles Clemons, William Dorcena, Althea Garrison, John Laing, Divo Rodrigues Monteiro, David Portnoy, City Councilor Mike Ross, Gareth Saunders, Bill Walczak, Hassan Williams, Christopher Womack, David James Wyatt and Charles Yancey.

Candidates have until May 13 to apply for the nomination papers.
