Local state Rep. Jeffrey Sánchez, who was considering joining the Boston mayoral race, told the Gazette this week he will not run.
“Not now,” Sánchez said. “I’m not going to run, but I’m not going to rule it out in the future.”
“I’m looking forward to hearing what all 20 candidates will do about poverty and all those issues that aren’t the shiny, happy side to running a city,” Sánchez said of those who are running. “Being mayor is more than just ribbon-cuttings.”
Sánchez said his young children are a main reason he decided not run.
“I want my children to know me,” he said.
