JP SOUTH—Centre and South streets were expected to get seven new trash cans this week.
Following Gazette questions as to the location of several trash cans purchased by Centre/South Main Streets (CSMS) about five years ago and since misplaced by the City, City Department of Public Works (DPW) spokesperson Tim McCarthy told the Gazette that locations for seven new and replacement trash cans had been chosen last week following a tour of the corridor with Mayor’s Office of Neighborhood Services representative Jullieanne Doherty.
“We found seven really good spots to put in the new, larger barrels,” McCarthy said. He added that he expected them to be installed June 20, after the Gazette’s deadline, assuming there were no weather-related delays.
The larger trash barrels will be installed mostly along South Street, with two expected near the Monument.
