The Hubway bike-share system might be coming to Jamaica Plain in late August or early September, according to Boston Bikes director Nicole Freedman, a JP resident. Hubway is a collaboration between the City and a private company.
Meanwhile, Franklin Park Coalition Executive Director Christine Poff is advocating for one of those spots for Hubway to be in Franklin Park. She said that a “great spot” would be in front of the zoo because it is a heavily visited area.
Freedman said that the City collected data through an online forum and has reached out to the community through the City’s Office of Neighborhood Services, talking with Main Street organizations and bike groups.
She said that the City is going through the data and looking at potential locations. Freedman said Franklin Park is “not one of the highest recommended” from that data and that it is “far out of the system.”
Freedman said that Forest Hills was the most desired location, with Jackson Square, Centre Street and Egleston Square following suit.
“A lot of it is a juggling act to see how it will work with the network,” she said about determining locations.
