The Hennigan Elementary School at 200 Heath St. was briefly put into lockdown on Nov. 1, according to Boston Public Schools (BPS) spokesperson Brian Ballou. The Gazette first learned of the lockdown from a parent of a Hennigan student.
Ballou said the lockdown was due to a sibling of a Hennigan student entering the school without authorization and police activity in the area. He said when the two events were found to be unrelated, the lockdown was lifted.
Ballou said the school went into lockdown out of “an abundance of caution” and that it lasted for less than half an hour. He said that teaching and learning went on as usual and that the lockdown was a “small disruption.”
