Letter: Thanks to businesses and shoppers for great holiday

The Jamaica Plain Business and Professional Association (JP BAPA) is celebrating a very successful holiday season in the Centre/South business district recently.

More than 83 businesses and property owners decorated and were considered for cash prizes awarded by JP BAPA based on artistry, festivity and appeal to customers.

Many people supplemented JP BAPA’s decorations budget with donations totaling more than $1,700 to help pay for installation of 136 living wreaths with berries on light poles from Canary Square to Arboretum Place in Forest Hills, as well as to fund the decorations awards.

JP BAPA would like to thank Arborview Realty, Classic Cleaners, Fire Opal, Carlos Icaza, Josh Muncey, Mt. Washington Bank, Michael Reiskind, Simpli Bar and Bites/WCI, Sandra Storey and Streetcar Wine and Beer for their generous contributions.

The wreaths, which were purchased from Still Life Farm, a sister to Stillman’s Farm, were installed by Jeffrey Ferris of Ferris Wheels Bicycle Shop and his crew with the assistance of Carlos Icaza.

Winner of first prize of $50 for store decorations was Caramelo Clothing Company at 606 Centre St. (Caramelo won the City’s Deck the Windows contest for best decorations Boston as well.)

Blue Frog Bakery at 3 Green St. took second place and $30. Runners-up Boing! JP’s Toy Shop, Boomerangs, Cobwebs, Ferris Wheels, JP Knit and Stitch, McCormack and Scanlan, New Leaf Flores, Optical Designs, Polka Dog Bakery, Salmagundi and Stephanie Cave Design Studio each won $20.

As always, we especially want to thank all JP residents and workers who shopped, used services and dined locally this past holiday season. We look forward to seeing you in our businesses during this New Year.
