Former City Councilor Felix D. Arroyo is running for the Suffolk County Register of Probate and Family Court, according to an email blast.
Felix D. Arroyo is the father of Felix G. Arroyo, who is also a former city councilor. Felix G. Arroyo, a Jamaica Plain resident, ran a failed campaign for mayor last year before becoming the City’s new chief of Health and Human Services under Mayor Martin Walsh. The email blast appears to be from Felix G. Arroyo’s mayoral campaign email list.
Felix D. Arroyo is now living in Roslindale, according to his candidate filing with the state Office of Campaign and Political Finance. The longtime JP resident retired a few years ago and moved to Uruguay. He was in Boston frequently last fall to help campaign for his son.
“I believe deeply in public service,” Arroyo said in the email. “My family and I have been given tremendous opportunities, and I am honored to be able to give back. My experience as both an administrator and an elected official make me uniquely qualified to serve as your Register of Probate and Family Court.”
It should be an interesting race. The current office holder, Patricia Campatelli, was suspended earlier this year for allegedly punching an employee outside of work, which was previously reported by the Boston Globe.
