JP Porchfest starts fundraiser

The organizers of the JP Porchfest have started a Kickstarter fundraising campaign with the goal of raising $10,000. JP Porchfest, which had its first event this year with bands playing on porches throughout JP, is expected to grow in size in 2015.

“The funds we raise will cover basic costs like printing and office supplies, as well as support the production of a JP Porchfest documentary,” said JP Porchfest co-founder Mindy Fried in an email to the Gazette.

She said that JP Porchfest 2015 is expected to grow to 111 bands, up from 65 bands this year. She said that organizers also want to add other art forms, such as dance, spoken word and theater acts. Fried said the campaign has raised $5,798 so far and will run until Nov. 20.

“We are very grateful for the support, and given the nature of Kickstarter campaigns–all or nothing—we are still pushing to reach our goal, and would welcome support, whatever the size.  Every bit helps,” she said.
