Casey Arborway construction meeting slated for Jan. 21

Casey Arborway construction planning details will be revealed at a state Department of Transportation meeting slated for Jan. 21, 6:30-8 p.m. at English High School, 144 McBride St. This is a reschedule of the original Jan. 13 date.

MassDOT announced the meeting via a press release that does not give the project’s specific start date.

Information available at the meeting will include an “overview of [the] first phase of construction operations, including temporary roadway configurations and traffic controls,” according to the press release. “The project’s long-term phasing, environmental controls and public outreach strategy will also be addressed,” the release says.

Representatives from MassDOT and the contractor, Barletta Heavy Division, will attend.

The Casey Arborway project will replace the existing Casey Overpass, a section of the Arborway over the Forest Hills T Station area, with a new network of surface streets. Over years of planning, the project was hotly controversial in the neighborhood, particularly for potential traffic impacts.

In case of snow, the meeting will be rescheduled for Jan. 21 at the same time and location.
