Boston votes for Clinton, Trump in primary election

Boston voters picked former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton (Democrat) and real estate mogul Donald Trump (Republican) in their parties’ respective presidential primary in Massachusetts on March 1, according to unofficial City results. About 39 percent of Boston voters came out to the polls.

Both Trump and Clinton won the state vote for their respective party primary.

Clinton garnered 57 percent of Democratic Boston voters, or 71,422 votes, while her opponent, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, collected 41 percent.

On the Republican side, Trump won 41 percent of voters, or 9,060 votes. Florida Sen. Marco Rubio notched a second-place finish with 24 percent, followed by Ohio Gov. John Kasich (23 percent), Texas Sen. Ted Cruz (8 percent) and retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson (2 percent).

For the Green Party, Jill Stein won first place with 58 percent of voters, or 82 votes. Sedinam Kinamo Christin Moyowasifza Curry received second place with 6 percent, followed by William Kreml (4 percent), Darryl Cherney (2 percent), and Kent Mesplay (1 percent).
