CSMS has new executive director

After a search that began at the start of the year, Jamaica Plain Centre/South Main Streets (CSMS) has announced that Kevin Johnson will be its new executive director.

CSMS previous executive director, Andrew Zarro, left in 2014.

The new director is a Boston native with work experience at various nonprofits. His most recent role was the Massachusetts program manager for Teach Plus, a nonprofit dedicated to empowering teachers to take leadership over policy issues that affect urban students’ success. He has also worked on behalf of The Community Builders Inc.’s place-based resident and community success program in cities such as Chicago and Cincinnati.

Johnson received his bachelor’s degree from Springfield College of Human Services and holds certificates in nonprofit management & leadership, community engagement, and trauma response & psychological first aid. He was the recipient of the NeighborWorks America 2013 National Aware for Excellence in Community Building and Organizing and the Massachusetts Association for Community Development Corporations 2010 Rising Star Award.
