State Rep. Nika Elugardo stated in a December 15 newsletter to constituents that she is running for the 2nd Suffolk State Senate seat, which was held by Senator Sonia Chang-Diaz, who has announced her candidacy for Governor.
She said that “2nd Suffolk is the only majority Black Senate district in Boston.” She continued, “Especially after serving alongside leaders in Black, Indigenous and other People of Color (BIPOC) communities throughout the mayoral election campaigning process, I’m exhilarated to further spread my wings and really lead and serve in a time when so many are starving for meaningful connection and are already doing the work of justice.”
A formal announcement and campaign launch is expected in February, she said.
