J.P. Licks Unveils a New Ice Cream FlavorAnd Announces the Return of a Few Favorites

Special to the Gazette

J.P. Licks, Boston’s favorite ice cream shop, recently announced the release of the all new Oatmeal Butterscotch Cookie Batter Ice Cream. Along with this new delightful treat, J.P. Licks is bringing back the popular colorful ice cream flavors of Ube, Fruity Pebbles Cereal Milk, and Fresh Peach. The flavors are available at all 17 of the ice cream shop’s store locations.

The new Oatmeal Butterscotch Cookie Batter Ice Cream mixes all the delicious elements of cookie dough together – oatmeal, brown sugar, and butter, mixed with butterscotch chips and a hint of cinnamon. In addition to unveiling a new flavor, J.P. Licks is bringing back a favorite due to popular demand, Ube. This bright purple flavor celebrates the root vegetable that is common in Filipino cuisine, which tastes like a combination of vanilla and pistachio; the ice cream is combined with coconut for an extra punch of sweetness. Fruity Pebbles Cereal Milk tastes exactly like what it sounds, the sugary and delicious sips of milk at the bottom of a cereal bowl that was once filled with Fruity Pebbles—another very colorful flavor. J.P. Licks is also excited to announce the return of peach season with Fresh Peach; the ice cream shop hand-cuts over 100 cases of fresh peaches and marinates them in brown sugar for this summer favorite.

“Our new addition, Oatmeal Butterscotch Cookie Batter, has a flavor experience similar to sneaking a spoonful of dough out of the mixing bowl,” says J.P. Licks founder and owner Vincent Petryk. “It’s a delicious addition to our stores and we are so excited to bring back some of our summer favorites. We always have customers asking about the return of Ube, and if you haven’t tried it yet, please make sure to ask one of our scoopers for a sample!”

Locally owned and operated by Vincent Petryk, J.P. Licks has 17 store locations throughout Massachusetts. The company employs up to 375 employees in the summer months and ships coffee (which is roasted in-house at the Jamaica Plain store) and merchandise anywhere in the continental USA. Since opening its doors, J.P. Licks has been committed to supporting each store’s community by donating in-kind donations to small, local organizations.

J.P. Licks has won many awards over the years for their intensely-flavored homemade ice cream and frozen yogurt, most recently Best of Boston 2021 from Boston Magazine. J.P.
