Macdonald, named to 2025 Dean’s List
Assumption University has announced that Mary Macdonald, of Jamaica Plain, Class of 2025, has been named to the University’s Dean’s List for the spring 2025 semester. Students named to the Dean’s List must achieve a grade point average of 3.5 for a five-class, 15-credit semester to be included on the prestigious list, which is announced at the completion of the fall and spring semesters.
“Earning the right to be named to the Assumption University’s Dean’s List is an extraordinary accomplishment and we congratulate those students who demonstrated exemplary academic excellence this semester,” said Assumption University President Greg Weiner, Ph.D. “These students have demonstrated a deep commitment to the pursuit of truth in the company of friends that lies at the heart of the Catholic liberal education Assumption provides.”
Carroll Graduates From College of the Holy Cross
Aidan Carroll of Jamaica Plain received a bachelor of arts degree Magna Cum Laude from College of the Holy Cross.
Carroll is among 733 bachelor of arts degree recipients Holy Cross celebrated at its 179th Commencement held in person on Friday, May 23 at the DCU Center in Worcester. Dr. Linda LeMura, president of Le Moyne College and the first female layperson to be named president of a Jesuit institution of higher education in the United States delivered this year’s address to the Class of 2025 and received an honorary degree.
In her remarks, LeMura emphasized that the goal of a Jesuit-and specifically a Holy Cross-education is to unite two identities: the dreamer and the doer, following the example of St. Ignatius of Loyola.
“Graduates, my wish for you-today, and every day-is that you will hold tight to your skills and to your dreams,” said LeMura. “Treasure them both. Your dreams will inspire your work, and your work will inspire your dreams. Never let go of the whimsical, poetical, visionary dreamer that lives in each and every one of you.”
Gomez named to Clarkson Uni’s Dean’s List
Yovahny Alexander Gomez of Jamaica Plain, a sophomore majoring in business analytics, was named to the Dean’s List for the Spring 2025 semester at Clarkson University.
Dean’s List students must achieve a minimum 3.25 grade-point average and also carry at least 14 credit hours.
Leslie Aponte named to Dean’s List
Leslie Aponte, a Lasell University student from Boston, MA was named to the Dean’s List for their academic performance in the Spring 2025 semester.
To be named to the Dean’s List, Lasell students must complete at least 12 credits as a full-time student and achieve a semester GPA of 3.5 or higher.

Jaden Mitchell of Jamaica Plain, was one of 614 students to process at Stonehill College’s 74th Commencement, held on Sunday, May 18, 2025.
Martin, koshy Graduates from The University of Texas at Austin
Clayton Martin, of Jamaica Plain, graduated with a Master Of Science In Computer Science from The University of Texas at Austin in spring 2025.
Betty Koshy, of Jamaica Plain, graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from The University of Texas at Austin in spring 2025.
Both were one of nearly 9,500 students who received an undergraduate, master’s or doctoral degree.
UT Austin celebrated its 142nd graduating class during Commencement ceremonies on May 10. Taylor Sheridan, the creative force behind television blockbusters such as “Yellowstone” and “Landman,” was the featured Commencement speaker.
