Jake Hart (Stephen B. Hyman)

October 16, 1941 — June 13, 2026

Jake Hart, born Stephen B. Hyman, of Jamaica Plain, died on June 13th , 2026. He was born to Jacob and Sylvia (nee Miller) Hyman on October 16th 1941 in Brookline Mass.

He is survived by his wife, Irene Kline, and a large family of children, grandchildren, nephews, and cousins of all generations, who he loved and treasured. He is also survived by his expansive found family of friends here, there, and everywhere.

Jake was an accomplished photographer with many museum and gallery exhibitions in New England and Vieques. PR. He will be remembered for this artwork, his indomitable spirit, humor, love of music, his stories collected from years as an adventurer, and the joy of being in his orbit.

He served his community as a long-term civic activist on the Board of the Jamaica Plain Council, the Zoning Board, and other committees. He developed many creative endeavors under his “JP Flea” moniker: the creation of the Doyle’s Calendar Almanac Alliance -all thirty years are available in City of Boston’s Digital Archives; the design and marketing for many local businesses; the owner and runner of an antique store; a Santa Claus performer in nursing homes as well as private residences .
