On May 14, Mayor Michelle Wu visited the M.M. Collins Apartments, in Jamaica Plain, to celebrate
Alice Barro’s 100th birthday. Alice, born in 1925 in Belgium, raised in France, and moved to Jamaica Plain in 1957 with her husband, Edward, a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army and JP native, she met in France while working as a switchboard operator for then General Eisenhower. Alice has three grandchildren and is a proud great-grandmother. She is an artist and poet, enjoys reading, watching PBS, and spending time with her cat, Cloe. Happy Birthday Alice! Here’s to many more to come.
