A Hyde Park man faces 12 years in prison after pleading guilty to killing another Hyde Park man in Jamaica Plain in 2007.

Michael Rosado, 31, originally faced a charge of second-degree murder for stabbing Robert Kelley Jr. to death on a Perkins Street sidewalk near the Jamaicaway. He pleaded guilty to manslaughter last week instead.

Prosecutors previously described the Sept. 26, 2007 killing as a drug deal gone bad. Kelley reportedly exclaimed, “Mikey, you’re killing me!” as Rosado attacked him, according to witnesses quoted by the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office.

After killing Kelley, Rosado fled to Florida. He was arrested there a few weeks later by US Marshals and Boston and local police officers.
