Holiday trees will be lit around the neighborhood over the next week in an annual tradition.
Sat., Dec. 3, Monument Square and Hyde Square. Mayor Thomas Menino will once again lead the Enchanted Trolley Tour on stops in Jamaica Plain and other neighborhoods for tree-lightings, Santa visits and more. The Monument Square event is 1:45 p.m. at Centre and South streets and includes a performance by Rick Berlin and the Nickle & Dime Band, followed by the tree-lighting and Santa visit. The Holiday Stroll event in central JP, including craft sales at the Loring-Greenough House and Prudential Unlimited Realty, runs during the event. The Hyde Square event begins at 2:30 p.m. at Centre and Perkins streets.
Sat., Dec. 10, Egleston Square. The Egleston Square Holiday Event and Tree-Lighting will include caroling, music, dance performances and the announcement of the local business window display contest winner. The event runs 2-4 p.m. at the Egleston Square Peace Garden, 3133 Washington St.
