Winners of the best holiday-themed shop windows in the Egleston Square and JP Centre/South Main Streets districts were announced last week.
Latino Beauty Salon at 3125 Washington St. won in Egleston Square, while the Salmagundi hat shop at 765 Centre St. won in Centre/South.
The stores are among several around the city now duking it out in Mayor Thomas Menino’s “Deck the Windows of Boston” contest for the best in Boston bragging rights. Residents can cast votes online at holidaysonmainstreets.com.
There is no entry from Hyde/Jackson Square Main Street, apparently due to that organization going dormant due to an investigation into the disappearance of thousands of dollars from its funds.
The Egleston Square competition included winners in other categories. VIP Lounge Salon at 3114 Washington won best interior decorations. Moreno’s Unisex Salon at 3097 Washington won best exterior decorations. Those winners were announced at the Egleston Square Holiday Event on Dec. 10, and visited by carolers.
