Presidential primary is March 6

The U.S. presidential primary election in Massachusetts will be held March 6. It will help to select the nominees for the Democratic, Green and Republican parties in the November presidential election.

Incumbent President Barack Obama is the only Democrat on his party’s ballot.

The Republican ballot will include active candidates Newt Gingrich, Ron Paul, Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum. It will also include three candidates who already dropped out of the race: Michele Bachmann, Jon Huntsman and Rick Perry.

The Green-Rainbow Party ballot will include Kent Mesplay, Harley Mikkelson and Jill Stein.

Independent or “unenrolled” voters can vote on any party ballot of their choice. Members of a political party have to vote on their party’s ballot.
