According to the City’s Transportation Department (BTD), a parklet, previously announced for next year, may come to JP in September for one day as part of a pilot program.
The one-day test would inform a larger pilot program that would create four parklets throughout the city. JP is expected to see a two-space parklet on Seaverns Avenue, adjacent to Purple Cactus, between March and November next year.
“We’re considering the [one-day] program,” BTD Director of Planning Vineet Gupta told the Gazette this week.
A parklet is a small, semi-permanent public space that resembles a deck, created from two to three parking spaces. It may include tables and chairs, bicycle parking or planters, among other options.
