JP man guilty in child porn case

A Jamaica Plain man will serve a year and a day in state prison after pleading guilty Dec. 10 to owning and sharing child pornography videos, according to the state Attorney General’s Office.

Jose Guzman, 42, was arrested at his JP home by State Police on Jan. 31, 2011 after a search found numerous child porn videos, some of which he had distributed on the Internet via a file-sharing network, according to the AG’s Office.

“This defendant will be serving time in state prison for exploiting children, a serious and disturbing offense,” state Attorney General Martha Coakley said in a press statement.

Guzman pleaded guilty to charges of dissemination of obscene matter, dissemination of child pornography and possession of child pornography. He was sentenced Dec. 11 in Suffolk County Superior Court.

After he is released from prison, Guzman will serve five years of probation, which will include undergoing sex offender evaluation and treatment. For those five years, he will banned from having contact with children under 16 years old; from loitering in areas where children tend to gather; from using the Internet except for work-related reasons; and from using any online chat room, social networking site or similar service.
