Police name new detective

The Boston Police Department promoted officer Stephen McNeil to the rank of detective at an Oct. 12 ceremony in the South End. McNeil, who has served for seven years, is based at Jamaica Plain’s District E-13 Police Station.

In the same ceremony, Roslindale resident Alfredo Andres, commander of the BPD’s Labor Relations division, was promoted to the rank of captain. He is the first Latino captain in the department’s history.
