Maura Hennigan, clerk of the Suffolk County criminal courts and a 2005 mayoral candidate, will not run for mayor this year, she told the Gazette.
“As much as I would love to run for mayor with this open seat, the short timeframe to put together a campaign prohibits a run,” said Hennigan, a Jamaica Plain resident, in an email. “I will be following the race and hope to support and work for a candidate [who] will lead Boston to a bright future.”
Hennigan is a former Boston city councilor who unsuccessfully challenged incumbent Thomas Menino in the 2005 mayoral election.
