Letter: Casey protesters were rude and juvenile

At MassDOT’s Jan. 21 informational meeting on construction plans for the Casey Arborway, I was appalled by the rude, mean-spirited, uncivil and even profane shouted accusations directed at officials attempting to convey this vital information. It was of course also inflicted upon those of us in attendance hoping to learn more, stifling participation by polite citizens wanting to ask questions about immediate construction impacts. I applaud MassDOT’s officials, contractors and consultants for soldiering through it with some measure of grace and a large helping of determination.

Lead by the founders of Bridging Forest Hills, all manner of insult and misinformation was flung at the stage, and every effort was made to disrupt the proceedings. They should be ashamed of themselves for these tactics and for plastering their flyers on neighborhood doors with damaging packing tape. Their cause is a lost one, their ever-shifting message a discredited and rejected one. And now their messengers should be rejected for this juvenile behavior.
