Three injured in Centre Street shooting

Staff Report

Police are continuing to investigate a shooting on Centre Street in Jamaica Plain early in the morning of July 5.

Officers responded to the shooting near the Jackson Square MBTA station just before 1:30 a.m., where they found three people suffering from non-life threatening injuries.

The investigation is ongoing, and no arrests have been made at this time.

The shooting near the Jackson Square station was one of several violent incidents throughout the city during the night of July 4 into the early morning hours of the next day.

Police are continuing to investigate a shooting on Blue Hill Avenue in Dorchester, as well as a fatal shooting on Shawmut Avenue in Roxbury.

“We didn’t declare victory during the dip in shootings and homicides in Boston and we won’t declare defeat during a spike,” said Suffolk County District Attorney Kevin Hayden. “ What we will do is focus ever harder on what works: smart policing, effective prosecutions and deep community involvement.  After the violence we saw on Friday we need community involvement more than ever. I urge anyone with information about these incidents to contact police.”
