Thanks to those who supported Connolly Library events

Warm and heartfelt thanks to all the generous volunteers and local businesses whose support made possible two recent events at the Connolly Branch Library.

In August, we hosted the Countdown to Kindergarten Days party and parade for the first time. Parents and children entering kindergarten this fall enjoyed stories, crafts, donated snacks and give-aways and a wonderful parade to the newly renovated Mozart Park and playground. The following businesses, individuals and organizations contributed to this event: Friends of the Connolly Branch Library; Quisqueya Bakery; El Oriental de Cuba Restaurant; Peter J. Hanley, D.M.D.; WIC; Hi-Lo Market; Ideal Café Pizza; Zesto’s Pizza and Grille; Captain Nemo’s Subs and Pizza; Gloria and Thomas Carrigg; 1-2-3 Spanish Together; and the Hyde Square Task Force.

On Halloween Day, the community enjoyed a Halloween party and the first annual costume parade through Hyde Square, with over 150 people participating. The parade route included stops at City Realty, Popular Mortgage, El Oriental Restaurant, Fat Ram Pumpkin Tattoo, La Casa de los Regalos, Hyde Square Task Force, Video Underground, Ultra Beauty Salon, Bella Luna and Hi-Lo Market. We also thank the following businesses, organizations and individuals who helped with the success of this event: Massachusetts Dental Society, WIC, Boston Parents Paper, Hyde/Jackson Main Streets, Stop & Shop, Quisqueya Bakery, the 99 Cent Store, Friends of the Connolly Branch Library, Kim Taylor Knight (storyteller), Nereida Martinez, Maryetta Dussourd, Jennifer Spencer and Maria Nuñez.

We are grateful to the local businesses which, despite difficult financial times, have supported our events so generously. We welcome the opportunity to continue building these alliances that help make the community stronger, especially Hyde/Jackson Square.
