JP company’s gear, key to Marathon, now part of crime scene

A Jamaica Plain rental company whose equipment is a crucial part of the Boston Marathon did not suffer any casualties in yesterday’s bombing. But its gear is now part of a gigantic crime scene downtown.

All of the grandstands, barricades and other event gear for the Boston Marathon is provided by Interstate Rental Service on Amory Street. Everyone at the company is OK, according to an Interstate employee.

Owner Edward Jacobs was not immediately available for an interview today because he was at the finish line area to assess the status of the company’s equipment.
