Jamaica Plain resident Holly Cavender-Wood, 38, died in her home on Eliot Street on Nov 13.

Born in Newport, Rhode Island and raised in Holland, Pennsylvania, Holly arrived in JP in 2007. Many residents may recall seeing her walking Pip, her Chocolate Labradoodle, around Jamaica Pond and by the shops on Centre Street. Through her role as a senior program associate at WestEd Learning Solutions, she improved education policies for children across the Northeast.

Holly was the beloved daughter of Barbara Cavender and Maynard Leistiko. Holly is also survived by her husband, Steven Cavender-Wood; grandmothers Annette Fitch and Diane Cavender; and brother, Jonathan Leistiko.

Holly’s memorial was held on Nov. 21 In lieu of flowers, contributions in Holly’s memory may be made to Boston Children’s Hospital.

Holly’s ashes will be interred at the Cavender family plot in Pennsylvania.
